Nicola Harrington

Nicola is a Chartered Surveyor, Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and Associate Director at Ardent with over 27 years’ post qualification experience practicing in the Rural and Transport Sectors.

Prior to joining Ardent, Nicola was Land Access Lead at HS2 and as part of a team (including Ardent as a consultant) secured access for non-intrusive and intrusive surveys with thousands of third party landowners over the route wide scheme.

Nicola has worked for a range of promoters and claimants relating to utility, rail and road schemes over her career and ran her own Company for 12 years primarily providing property consultant support to Network Rail’s Operational Property Departments in Manchester, Derby, Bristol and Birmingham undertaking temporary land access agreements, land sales / acquisition of property and compensation.

Nicola now works 3 days a week for Ardent and more recently was the Principal Surveyor for M42 Junction 6 DCO. Scheme that was being promoted by National Highways (DCO Granted May 2020). She was also involved as a Senior Surveyor for the Portishead Branch Line- MetroWest Phase 1 DCO Scheme being promoted by North Somerset Council/ Network Rail (DCO granted November 2022) and the M3 Junction 9 Improvement DCO Scheme.

Nicola is currently seconded to National Grid and is involved with the delivery of the Scotland to England Green Link 2 underground HV electric cable CPO scheme.
